About Arkansas Studio-Middle Eastern in Maumelle
Mirana appointed Shannon Sahr to keep her mission alive, to keep Middle Eastern Dance relevant, and to continue developing her troupe into one of the highest professional level dance groups in Arkansas. Shannon played a pivotal role in bringing cultural dance to mainstream stages in Arkansas and across the United States. Recognized as a classical art form, She continues to preserve and promote the dance as a master teacher, choreographer and Artistic Director of The Mirana Middle Eastern Dance Company. Founded by Marion “Mirana” Thompson in 1974 (incorporated in 1985), the Mirana Middle Eastern Dance Co was the first to bring this art form to the state of Arkansas.

Maumelle Dance Academy
Allison has been passionate about dance since childhood, training in a wide variety of styles throughout K-12. She was an active member of the North Little Rock High School Dance Troupe and went on to perform with the Henderson State University Dance Company her freshman year of college. After transferring to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Allison earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a focus in Dance and Studio Art in 2009. During her studies, she attended The American College Dance Festival with both universities. At Maumelle Dance Academy, we believe choosing a smaller studio offers something special: a tailored experience, more individual attention, and a calm, supportive environment.
