Sunny Side Swing

Welcome to Sunny Side Swing! We are a community of dancers committed to radical welcome, authentic connection, and grounded in honoring the history of swing. Join us for our weekly dance classes on Monday nights in Aurora and open social dances on the first and third Wednesday of every month! No partner necessary! The dancing we specialize in, Lindy Hop, emerged in the Black communities of Harlem, NY in the late 1920’s. Shortly after, in the 1930’s, Lindy Hop became wildly popular, and dancers would tear it up to the swingin’ tunes of musicians like Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, and Count Basie. Frankie Manning and Norma Miller were among the many Black dancers that helped the dance grow in popularity.
