Forward Momentum Chicago
The Chicago Black Dance Legacy Project (CBDLP), developed through a partnership between Logan Center Community Arts and the Joyce Foundation’s Culture Program, as well as leaders from each dance company, is a multi-year project that seeks to celebrate the historic impact of Chicago-based black choreographers in the national dance community, and strengthen the impact and reach of black dance for generations to come. The eight companies were selected specifically for the history and impact of their work including legacy, next-generation, and arts education dance companies. Forward Momentum Chicago was founded on the principal of providing dance education to children and communities with limited arts access. Our commitment to servicing schools located in the city’s south and southwest neighborhoods are our number one priority.
