About Hart Dance Academy in Lincoln
Hart Dance Academy was founded in 1986 by Tracey Gabelman-Hart, a proud lifetime student of Karen McWilliams, a community mentor. For over 40 years, HDA has been teaching students of all ages the LOVE of dance. Our primary focus is a strong technical foundation in a positive culture where dancers can flourish, grow and make meaningful relationships – all while exploring their artistic passions. This remains true today as we continue to serve many Lincoln families with varying goals from recreational dancers who want to fit class into their busy schedules to the most serious students who spend many hours per week perfecting their artform. Hart Dance Academy has a place for everyone! With four beautiful studios running six (sometimes seven) days per week, our schedule has options for you.

Hixson–Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts
UNL Symphony Orchestra performed on tour in Norfolk, Nebraska, and Rapid City, South Dakota. A student hangs up her photos in preparation for a student critique. ‘Big Fish’ was a collaborative musical produced by the Nebraska Repertory Theatre and UNL Opera and featuring projections created by the emerging media arts program. Students from both the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and Glenn Korff School of Music collaborated on the fantastical musical that revolves around the extraordinary life of Edward Bloom, a charismatic storyteller with a penchant for embellishment. A student paints in the well-lit studios of Richards Hall. If you’re up for the challenge, the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts will prepare you to make a difference in the world.

Rue teaches kids’ lyra, aerial dance, and conditioning. She fell in love with circus at 15 after seeing Cirque du Soleil and later trained in Illinois State University’s Gamma Phi Circus. With a strong dance background, she specializes in aerial hoop, Spanish web, hammock, and straps. Welcome! It really works no matter what you need it for- the practice of using just one’s own body with focus and control has changed my life completely!
